Adox Silvermax 100 uses a high-silver single-layer emulsion to achieve a remarkably broad tonal scale, able to record detail across as many as 14 stops with the matched Silvermax developer. Grain is extremely fine and resolution is very high, yielding negatives with striking micro-contrast and deep, rich blacks alongside clean, controlled highlights. Contrast tends to run higher than typical 100-speed films, which gives images a punchy, luminous quality well suited to fine-art printing. The film can also be reversal-processed to make black-and-white slides.
