CineStill 400D is a daylight-balanced color negative film based on modern Kodak motion-picture emulsion, offering fine grain, wide dynamic range and a flexible ISO 400 speed. It brings the cinematic CineStill look to everyday and low-light daylight shooting.
Character & look
400D pairs a versatile 400 speed with fine grain and impressively wide dynamic range, giving natural, filmic color that leans neutral with warm midtones and smooth highlight roll-off. Like other CineStill films it can show gentle halation around bright light sources thanks to the removed remjet, adding a cinematic glow. It is rated flexibly and can be shot from EI 200 to 800 with good results, making it adaptable across sunny days, overcast light and interiors. The look is polished and motion-picture-like, bridging the gap between the slow 50D and the tungsten night specialist 800T.

Shooting & development tips
It is flexible from EI 200-800; overexpose slightly for the cleanest, most saturated results. Expect subtle halation around bright highlights, part of the signature look.
FAQ
50D or 400D?
50D is finer-grained for bright light and detail; 400D is more versatile across changing light. Both share the cinematic CineStill character and mild halation.
